About Walnut

Walnuts are sometimes referred to as the King of Nuts. These versatile nuts have a creamy texture and a distinct flavour profile. From the nutrition perspective, walnuts have a high proportion of plant-based omega 3 fats along with high quantities of essential minerals.

Walnut can be eaten as snacks or you can just chop them to use as sprinklers in salads, vegetable dishes, desserts, ice-cream, etc.

Nutritive Value/Benefits

These walnuts are high in protein, fats, fibre, vitamins, minerals, omega-3 fats and contain higher amounts of antioxidants. Walnuts help to fight oxidative damage in the body, including damage due to “bad” LDL cholesterol.

Storage & Uses

Store shelled or unshelled walnuts safely in an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place. The refrigerator is a great choice as walnuts will remain fresh for up to three months. You can also freeze walnuts for up to one year.

Shelf-Life

Unshelled goes for 12 months and shelled walnut goes for 6 months.

Storage Temperature

At maximum temperatures of 10ºC in cold storage rooms and relative humidity of 60-70%, the walnuts are kept up to 12 months. They may be stored frozen at -18ºC for more than a year, keeping them in good conditions.
