About Lotus Seed

Phool Makhana or popped lotus seeds is an organic non-cereal nutritious food which is normally found in the stagnant water of lakes, tanks, ponds and wetlands.

Benefits

This is normally used to make makhana kheer, a sweet dish which is commonly consumed after fasting. Delight your taste buds as you curb your hunger pangs with the highly nutritious Makhana Dry Fruit. Storage & Uses

In order to maintain the ideal moisture range, seeds should be stored in air that has a relative humidity between 30 and 45%. In order to achieve this, seed should be stored in a controlled (air-conditioned) environment set to within this ideal relative humidity range.

Shelf-Life

It has a shelf life of 6 months and is recommended to store in a cool and dry place. The package contains one tal makhana lotus seeds packet of 250 grams.

Storage Tips

Lotus seeds are easy to store in their dried form. These can be packaged in plastic containers and store in a cool dry place. Tighten the lid when not in use. The fresh seeds can be kept in zip lock bags under refrigeration and maintain its freshness for more than a week.

Storage Temperature

Lotus seeds stored at 25 °C and different relative humidity conditions of 40%, 50%, 60% and 70% within 32 days was measured.
