Storage & Uses
Once betel nuts are harvested, the nuts in plastic bags could be stored 7 to 10 days at room temperature, which is the probable shelf-life of betel nuts sold in the CNMI. As the storage period extends, the texture of the husk and kernel becomes harder and the total juiciness of betel nut decreases. Arecoline is responsible for some of the effects of betel quid chewing, such as alertness, increased stamina, a sense of well-being, euphoria, and salivation. Chewing the nut stimulates the flow of saliva to aid digestion. Betel nut also has been used to stimulate the appetite.
Shelf-Life
Commonly the betel nuts stay fresh for almost ten days at room temperature. If they are stored for more than ten days at room temperature, they will start spoiling. If you store them in the refrigerator, they will last for few months, retaining their peak quality.
Storage Tips
The ripe arecanuts, after harvest, are sun-dried for some days and stored for one year without husking. When market prices are reasonable, the arecanut are husked, and such nuts (chali) are sold in the market [3]. In godowns, this chali is stored in gunny bags for variable periods.
Storage Temperature
As can be seen from the above table, betel nut dry fruit stores 3 months naturally in room temperature to start to go mouldy, and SC sum exceeds standard; When under freezer (15 ℃) condition and inflated with nitrogen, charcoal absorption room temperature.
A shipment description, or parcel information, is asked in those rare cases that a courier company is trying to locate your parcel because it became unreadable due to a fallen off label or an unreadable label. We will go through the process and tell you what parcel information you have to give. The shipment or order details, on the contrary, is a summary of all the information regarding a parcel that a shipper wants to send to a receiver. It contains information about the pick-up and delivery address and contact person. It is of great importance to us and the courier that we are fully aware of the content of the parcel (it’s weight, dimensions, specific content, …) because it helps us to asses which service would be the safest and cheapest for you. Having a thorough parcel content description will avoid problems during transport, for example when a courier has to pick up a parcel that is much heavier and bigger than mentioned.
